Please tell us how they are doing! Is things getting better for them? Able to see friends yet?
- Member05/11/2020 at 9:02 AM
Some things are opening up like outdoor dining, golf, fishing but none will actually affect us in any way. Social distancing will continue.
My daughter continues to hang out with friends online. She is doing ok.

I am glad she is doing okay. I am not sure what is opening up for us if anything. I know we are still on lock down until May 15th.

I hope you got to get everything done. 🙂

The kids are doing ok. The schools are closed to the end of the school year for sure but they’ll continue with the distance learning like they’ve been doing so no real change there. They are online with their friends daily but are still aching for the day when they can get out and do something face to face with them.
The province started phase 1 of the re-open plan and part of that is allowing families to form bubbles with 1 or 2 other families but with all of the distancing rules still in place … less than 10 people, 6ft distancing, no sharing of food and drink and still only allowed to hug those in your immediate household. And as always if you are sick or have family members at risk you need to stay home. Also in phase one is the opening of some medical/dental offices, and allowing more non-essential surgeries to happen but they have to maintain the distancing, proper ppe coverage, and major cleaning. They are also allowing the boat launches to open for fishing and were going to reopen golf courses but the rules are still tight enough that some aren’t opening yet. Phase 2 is supposed to happen next week but there’s enough concern and lack of rule following by the general public that it may still get pushed back. All of the big events for the summer are being cancelled and the ministry of education is working with the school divisions to figure out what will happen for the kids come the fall.

That is what we are dealing with also. But we are dealing with Phase one at the moment for about a month.

I wish they weren’t moving us to phase 2 so soon. They just seem to be so focused on getting re-elected in the fall that they’re bending to pressure from the public and are turning away from the things causing concern. They’ve even changed the rules for phase 2 allowing more in the phase than was originally going to happen. We’ve decided that with every new phase we’re going to wait 2 – 3 weeks to see what happens with the virus and if the numbers go down and stay down we’ll loosen our own restrictions and let the kids make their plans with their friends.

Now that is a wonderful idea. How did it go? Because that is what we did even though our numbers was down I still kept Brianna in until I started doing my errands on Friday mornings.

The province is only just starting on Phase 4 (WAY too soon) and it’s not going as well as expected so we’re still saying no to face to face time with their friends. I am working on a couple plans for Anja’s birthday for her and 2 friends. One she’ll be really happy with and the other not so much but it should still work. There have been multiple outbreaks around the province that were the result of family gatherings and events, and groups of friends that have just thumbed their noses at the distancing rules and health restrictions. So we’re staying tight on what we’re allowing the kids to do.

Bethany and Brianna are doing much better. This routine is working well and we have relaxed their ability to go out and about more which is making for better attitudes. Bethany still continues to push buttons and basically dare us to do something about it. Now, unless she goes overboard, we are just ignoring that behaviour.
Ontario has officially announced the permanent closure of all public and Catholic schools until September 1st. Bethany and Brianna will continue their teacher-led, online assignments until they finish in June but Brianna will take a summer online course as part of the Reach Ahead program.
They are looking forward to getting out camping and in a boat this summer.

Camping and boating sounds like a lot of fun than being inside. 🙂
