The role of a nurse’s aide began during World War I when the American Red Cross launched the Volunteer Nurses’ Aide Service. In 1987, Congress passed the Omnibus Reconciliation Act which set the standards for certified nursing assistant training, education, and requirements.

Celebrate today and thank an assistant nurse for their devotion and hard work.
